We believe the best ideas can come from anyone. That’s why we’ve cultivated a diverse, curious, and bold culture – one that celebrates courage, resilience, and tenacity at every level. We thrive on pushing boundaries, embracing big challenges, and growing through the work we do as we forge new paths to deliver urgently needed therapeutics.
We’re looking for driven people who are ready to roll up their sleeves and solve difficult problems together. We’re not just looking for skills; we’re looking for people who share our values and who aren’t afraid of a challenge. If that sounds like you and you’re ready to make a real impact, we’d love to connect.
Meet some of our amazing colleagues who embody our values and get us closer to achieving our audacious goals.
Own it —
with the freedom to figure it out.
Our all-hands-on-deck mentality means there are no unglamorous tasks at Alector—all efforts that advance our important work are vital. Great things are possible when great thinkers have the autonomy to explore and implement.
Key behavior: Humble Audacity

Jignya Patel
Technical Operations
The more difficult and complex a situation, the more Jignya shines. She’s best known for providing abundant solutions to problems, even when given very little detail or guidance. Challenges seem to energize her, whether she’s developing our business continuity plans or figuring out the best COVID-19 testing service for us.
Question convention —
with the courage to challenge assumptions.
In science, we don’t often know where the signal is until we see it. So we ask questions to push the boundaries of what’s possible. We rebel against human nature—defaulting to what’s comfortable—and continually embrace informed risk.
Key behavior: Fearless Questioning

Charles Wolfus
Technology and Digital Health
Patient recruitment is incredibly important for our clinical trials here at Alector – but it doesn’t come without challenges. Charles continually brings out-of-the-box thinking and new ideas to our recruitment efforts. He is always questioning if the way it has been done before is really the best way to do things now and identifies new, innovative solutions to the hurdles or roadblocks we sometimes face. Charles has a passion for digital healthcare and really is an invaluable resource for new ideas to assess or technologies to implement, that makes us more efficient and effective as an organization. We are so grateful to have Charles on our team and helping us forge ahead!
Elevate each other —
all wins are shared wins.
Lone wolves don’t develop drugs and build companies—teams do. Our success hinges upon our ability to collaborate and celebrate each other’s strengths. Each of us shares responsibility for our outcomes as an organization.
Key behavior: Collaborative Ownership

Grace Wong-Sarad
Accounting
The People Team was in search of a new HR information system. Grace jumped in, along with IT, to identify the best solution for the company. She made sure we looked at the systems through an employee lens, to pick one that would minimize burden on multiple teams—not just her own. She embodied partnership and empathy throughout. We have since launched Ceridian, thanks to Grace’s efforts.
Never Give Up —
Persevere and find a new path.
Persistence is built into our DNA, as is our ability to flex and respond rapidly if new facts indicate a change of course. Maintaining resilience in the face of adversity requires that we stay nimble, proactive, and ever optimistic in the pursuit of our goals.
Key behavior: Flexible Persistence

Ananya Mitra
Nonclinical Sciences
Ananya is the perfect example of persistence, adaptability, and positivity when faced with a challenge and is such an asset to our Nonclinical Sciences team. Ananya set up several back-to-back studies under extremely tight deadlines to help test and validate an antibody for one of our programs, which resulted in unexpected data. Ananya proactively took the lead to set up two additional studies to generate further data that would determine the next steps for the team. She is just the person you want to take charge when plans don’t go as expected because she will take ownership and do what it takes to get the project back on track.
Embrace Feedback –
And a growth mindset
We’re a data-driven company, so valuing feedback in all its forms is our superpower. Be it scientific, clinical or interpersonal, feedback propels us forward. Honest and good-intentioned feedback is always welcomed, acted upon and learned from.
Key behavior: Constructive Truth-Telling

Margaret Tang
Antibody Discovery and Protein Engineering
Margaret consistently demonstrates a proactive approach to her work by actively seeking feedback and applying it to enhance her skills, particularly in presenting complex information. She presented a scientific proposal, communicating her experiments clearly and concisely despite their complexity. Margaret is instrumental in advancing our early development programs, taking on critical experiments, making important decisions, and ensuring rapid data turnaround to keep projects moving forward. Her ability to work efficiently, troubleshoot in real time, and manage competing priorities has been invaluable to the team. Margaret’s dedication, quick decision- making, and low-ego approach have significantly contributed to the success of our projects.

Our comprehensive plans include coverage for medical, dental, vision and emotional health, along with resources for mental wellness and lifelong learning. We also recognize the importance of staying active, which is why we provide free access to an onsite gym, basketball court, and a scenic outdoor path for running and cycling along the bay.
Financial & Commuter
We know that peace of mind starts with financial security. Alector offers a 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, an employee stock purchase plan, company-paid life insurance, financial planning services, and company-paid short- and long-term disability insurance.

Ownership
Alectorians are eligible for ongoing equity awards and can participate in our employee stock purchase plan. We believe that when you help build something big, you should have a stake in the outcome. Because here, we don’t just work at Alector – we own it, together.
Learning & Development
Growth is one of our core values at Alector – captured in our commitment to “embrace feedback–and a growth mindset.” We support that mindset in many ways, from regular manager check-ins focused on reflection and development, to opportunities for learning that go beyond the technical. We host a standout seminar series, featuring visiting academics sharing their latest scientific breakthroughs and we offer soft skills and leadership development workshops to help team members grow in all directions. We also run peer mentorship and skill-building sessions led by senior leaders, giving Alectorians the chance to learn directly from those who’ve grown with the company.
Time-off Program
We work hard but we also know how important it is to take time for yourself. That’s why our time off program is designed to truly support your wellbeing, whether it’s a vacation, personal day, or extended leave. Full-time employees receive 10 paid company holidays, 20 days of paid time off per year and a company-wide winter shutdown in December to rest and recharge.
Workspace
Your health and wellness matter – especially at work. Our headquarters was thoughtfully designed with our team in mind, featuring collaborative breakout spaces, a quiet library for focused work, a dedicated mother’s room, healthy snacks, and more. It’s a space that supports how you work best – whether you need connection or concentration.
Flexible working
We believe that great work can happen in a variety of settings, which is why we’ve embraced a flexible, hybrid work model that supports collaboration and individual needs. Our approach blends regular time on-site to foster connection, teamwork, and spontaneous collaboration with the flexibility to work remotely when focus and autonomy are needed. Our goal is to empower each person to do their best work by providing choice and flexibility wherever possible. In true Alector spirit, we’re embracing experimentation and continuous learning as we find ways of working that support both individual productivity and team success.
Community Involvement
We are deeply committed to supporting causes that uplift and support those around us.
We organize volunteer initiatives throughout the year to help Alectorians give back in ways that matter to them. We partner with The Family Giving Tree twice a year for company-wide donation drives, and every employee receives one paid volunteer day annually – which they can use for a personal cause or participate in team-led volunteer events.
Whether it’s through time, talent, or teamwork, we’re proud to be an altruistic company that encourages giving back in meaningful, personal ways.
Team Activities
From casual happy hours to company-wide celebrations of major milestones, we find time to come together, reflect, and have some fun along the way. Our calendar is dotted with moments big and small to celebrate our progress and our people. It’s about more than events – it’s about making space for the moments that matter.
